The carpeting in your home can accumulate a lot of dust, dirt and pet hair even if you regularly vacuum. Professional Vancouver carpet cleaning is the best way to remove ground in grime and keep them looking as good as new. There are several ways professional carpet cleaning services offer their customers, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Below are the different methods to review how they work, your decision will come down to personal preference.

Two basic methods exist to clean carpets, either a wet or dry carpet cleaning method with some extras available. Wet carpet cleaning uses extraction to remove dirt and may include the use of absorbent pads. Using the dry method uses chemical powders or foams applied by a special machine with counter- rotating brushes, pads or cylinders.

  • Wet Cleaning – The most common method used to remove deep down soil is the wet method, known as hot water extraction or steam cleaning. Carpets are pre- conditioned using a chemical reagent to loosen ground in dirt, then a carpet cleaning solution and hot water heated almost to boiling temperature is forced under pressure into the carpet. This is allowed to sit for 10 or 15 minutes followed by extraction of the moisture using a powerful vacuum. Complete drying takes at least 24 hours, however a qualified carpet cleaner can reduce this time significantly.
  • Cleaning With an Absorbent Pad – Known as bonnet cleaning this works well for routine cleaning. The carpet is vacuumed followed with a chemical solution sprayed using a hand pump or electric sprayer. After being allowed to sit for 10 to 15 minutes the absorbent pad ( a towel material ) is placed on the drive block of a rotary floor machine and spun over the carpet at speeds of 100 to 300 rpm. This action gets into carpet fibers to remove soil and removed along with carpet fiber during vacuuming.
  • Dry Cleaning With Absorbent Compound- A mixture of special solvents and cleaning agents is spread over the area then worked into carpet fibers with a machine using counter rotating brushes. Once it’s left to absorb soil for 10 or 15 minutes vacuuming completes the process.
  • Dry Foam or Rotary Shampoo Method- Simply put a chemical agent is applied to separate soil from the carpet worked into a foam, worked into carpet fibers using a special machine. The final step is to vacuum the carpet.
